OnePlus comeout on top in Premium Indian smartphone market with 30% of market share in the above INR 30,000($400) segment and beating The Samsung and Apple. The OnePlus 6 phone became the highest selling flagship smartphone within 5 months of launch. Rather than that, the overall Indian Premium smartphone market reaches an all-time peak in Q3 2018, it is because of the entry of LG, Vivo, Oppo, Asus and Huawei.
The Top Three manufacturer (OnePlus, Samsung & Apple) secured 83% of the overall premium sales which is 5% down from the last quarter it is just because of Huawei nova 3, Asus Zenfone 5Z, Vivo Nex S, Oppo Find X, LG G7 ThinQ, according to the report of counterpoint research. This reduced the overall share of the top three brands – OnePlus, Samsung and Apple- which held 83 percent of the market which is down from the 88 percent share in Q2 2018.

Counterpoint believes that the company’s offline and online store deals, effective marketing campaign and the positive word of mouth propelled has helped OnePlus to increase its potential user base with OnePlus 6. On the other hand, Samsung got 28% market share in Q3 2018 thanks to its strong demand of newly released Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy A-series.
Apple reached a market share of 25% thanks to the iPhone XS and XS Max. Counterpoint points out a few key factors that contribute to the growing premium smartphone market. The spending power of people is growing which coupled with various offers like no-cost EMIs and instant cashback are the main key factors. Premium features like faster processors, dual camera, support for AI, advanced biometric security and full-screen display act as a deciding factor for users to upgrade from their mid-range phones.
