OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T Get OxygenOS 5.1.6 With Idea VoLTE Support And October Security Patch

OnePlus has started rolling out its new OxygenOS update for Oneplus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The New OxygenOS 5.1.6 update brings support for Idea 4G VoLTE in India. The company is rolling out the update in a phased manner across the globe, which means you might have to wait a bit to receive the notification on your smartphone. So Wait till the notification arrive or you can go to settings and search for the system update.

According to the update’s changelog for the latest version of OxygenOS 5.1.6 reveals that it brings October 2018 Android Security Patch, improved stability for phone calls via Bluetooth and official support for Project Treble. OnePlus stated that to install OxygenOS 5.1.6 users have to the previous version, OxygenOS 5.1.5 installed on their smartphone. Notably, while support for Project Treble was spotted in the last OxygenOS 5.1.5 update, this is the first update where OnePlus has officially acknowledged its rollout.

The company has already confirmed that it is working on Android 9 Pie update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T and said ” a big update on its way” which is already been rolled out to OnePlus 6. The OxygenOS 5.1.6 is a minor update with the support for VoLTE on idea’s network in India, Project Treble support, improved Bluetooth stability for phone calls and support for the latest October 2018 Android Security Patch.

Project Treble, launched by Google in May last year allow Android smartphone OEMs to swiftly release Android software updates without any major changes. Project treble creates a separate vendor interface between Android OS framework and the vendor implementation, allowing OEMs to rapidly test their devices for new updates and issue.
