Messenger will soon have ‘Unsend Message’ feature

Facebook is working on the ‘Unsend Message’ button feature for Messenger. This feature will allow users to retract sent messages not only from their inbox but also from the entire chat thread, Media reported. TechCrunch reported on the same after receiving a tip from Jane Manchun Wong, who accessed a prototype of the “Unsend” button. A Facebook spokesperson then confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature could be rolled out in the months to come.

Facebook owned photo-messaging app Instagram already sports “Unsend” capability and allow users to delete a sent message for all recipients in the personal or group chat.

Mobile researcher and tipster Jane Manchun Wong added the screenshots of about this feature on Twitter. Currently, Messenger users are able to delete messages from their inbox, though the other whom you sent the message in his/her inbox.

The Screenshot shared by Wong shows that this feature works when you click on a user selects a message and then you can see this feature above the Delete message option.

Then If a user clicks on the unsend button, he/she will be able to delete the message from the chat on behalf of all its users. You should have to note that the feature only allow users to exercise the option within a limited time period.

This Feature has been discovered six months after the social networking giant announced that it was in favour of building “Unsend” functionality.
